It was a rather forgettable night on Thursday night for the Goldeyes as the Lincoln Saltdogs blasted the Fish 13-0.
The Saltdogs put the game away early with 5 runs in the first chasing starter Mikey O’ Brien after only one inning. Zack Dodson came on in relief of O’ Brien and gave up five more runs in the second along with two more in the third, allowing the Saltdogs to form an insurmountable 12-0 lead.
To the credit of the Goldeyes they stabilized the ship on the pitching side the rest of the way only allowing one run over the remaining six Lincoln at-bat innings (being the home team they were not required to bat in the 9th with the lead). Unfortunately the offence was not able to muster much against Saltdogs starter Derek Gordon who scattered only four hits walking only one while striking out eight Goldeyes in seven superb innings, Parker Frazier came on to pitch the last two innings striking out three and preserving the shutout.
With the victory the Saltdogs even the best of 5 division series at one game a-piece with the series shifting to Shaw Park beginning Saturday at 6:05 pm. Charle Rosario (11-5 3.06 ERA) and left hander Bennett Perry (3-2 1.92 ERA) are expected to toe the rubber for Winnipeg and Lincoln respectively.
