The Winnipeg Goldeyes put forth a better effort on Saturday but it was unfortunately not enough as T Bones starter Chris Perry was just a little bit better than Goldeyes hard luck loser Edwin Carl.
Perry, allowed three hits, one run, walked one and struck out four, Carl pitched 6 outstanding innings allowing only two hits and two earned runs, walking three while fanning five Kansas City batters.
Run support came early for the T Bones starter as Chantz Mack led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot on the 8th pitch of the at bat.
The local nine would manufacture their lone run of the evening without the benefit of a hit in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the 4th Kyle Petty put the home side back in front by one with a solo shot off Goldeyes starter Edwin Carl for his final hit allowed of the evening.
The T Bones added some insurance with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a 2 run double off the bat of Kevin Keyes.
The Fish came up empty handed in the top of the 9th as Cody Winiarski retired all three batters he faced for his 12th save of the season.
Kevin McGovern (7-2 2.34 ERA) will take the mound tomorrow for the Goldeyes as they look to avoid a the sweep, while Scott Carroll (5-3, 3.39) with counter for KC.
First pitch is set for 1:05pm at Community America Ball Park in the final game before the All-Star Break.
